This Christmas season has left me completely exhausted. It was slow to start, and at times it scared me, I kept wondering when the crowds were coming to shop. I had ordered too many gift items and the most beautiful Christmas ornaments. I spent Thanksgiving at the store pricing so much merchandise and re-arranging the store so it would be ready for “Black Friday”. Black Friday on third Avenue turned out to be a bomb. It left me anxious and full of worry as to what kind of Holiday I was to expect.
It picked up very slowly, but it picked up. Our regular customers and a ton of new faces came strolling through the door to my most coveted Christmas wonderland. I wish I had pictures, but once again I lost the charger to my camera and there are no pictures of our “Saints and Angels” themed window. I lose things when I become extremely tired, which seems to be all the time lately. It feels like I just gave birth again, this time to a store.
I re-arranged the store once again to accomodate our “super sale” merchandise. Clothing is marked 30%-50% off. Christmas items are 50% off. There are some great pieces on sale, be sure to stop in and check it out.
I want to thank my Lolette’s for working so hard, Jai, Suzan and Kim. I could not do this with out your help. My beautiful family that has sacrificed so much to help me in everything. I’m sorry our Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve 2009 will be remembered as Holidays spent at Lola’s. My sweet Valentina, thank you for helping mommy after school and being a great promoter of the store. Soon we will be on a nice retreat together. Gerard my love, thank you for being there every single day. To all my customers new and old, thank you so much for shopping at Lola’s and appreciating all the merchandise that was ordered for you. There would be no Lola’s with out you. Last but not least, Thank you GOD and the mighty Universe for giving me the strength everyday to continue on this retail journey.

Team On The Fence.. that is where I sit after seeing the newest installment of the Twilight Saga, New Moon. I have been an avid fan of Vampires since I was a little girl. There is something so ultra-sexy and mysterious about them, but I will appreciate a buff werewolf any day of the week…
For weeks there was anticipation and googling every New Moon trailer and piece of information that I could get my hands on. The movie was well worth the advanced ticket purchase two months ago and the waiting in line at the midnight show on Thursday. I loved it so much I went again on Saturday to see it again in the city with some other Twi-hards! I sat, both times, staring at the screen in awe and was completely satisfied at the caliber of the performances of all the actors. None of these movies are Oscar worthy, let’s be honest, but they are definitely good entertainment!
Twilight, the first of the Saga, pales (no pun intended) in comparison to the beauty of New Moon. The movie was amazing and the characters are brought to life again in a more stunning way. Edward, Bella and Jacob characters made you feel their pain. I appreciated the fashion, which at times on Alice made her look too “old,” but for the most part, the gratuitous naked werewolf and vampire was not bothersome. I left satisfied and definitely wanting more. I am definitely anticipating Eclipse and wondering what David Slade’s vision will be and hope it holds up to Chris Weitz direction.
I already have a date for Eclipse on June 30, 2010 at midnight. I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
What girl doesn’t love a beautifully scented bubble bath or a lovely new perfume to make her smile? There’s a new bath product in town. Tokyo Milk has come to Lola’s Boutique!!
We carry the full line of products including soap, bubble bath, solid and spray perfume, and lip balms. To accessorize with your Tokyo Milk bath products, there are some beautiful hand mirrors for your purse. If you are the girl who does beauty on the go, these solids, balms and sprays are the perfect size for your purse. the scents are beautifully packaged with typewritten labels and photos. The perfume bottles have sepia-toned and color pictures that show through the liquid and add another element of beauty to the delightful bottles. The wrapping of the soap is sweet with fine glitter on the antique-looking paper. My favorite are the bubble bath bottles. made of glass with a silver screw on top, they remind me of items one can find at the apothecary shoppes. If you love a sense of antiquity and vintage, these are the products for you.
They not only smell delicious and look lovely in your bathroom, but they make excellent gifts. The Holidays are right around the corner and I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love a gift basket full of these goodies! The scents range from fruity to sweet to sexy and I would bet that you can find a fragrance that would suit you and anyone on your gift list.
Ladies who are serious about their scent, know to go for broke for beauty products. This week at Lola’s we are so excited to introduce you to Santa Maria di Novella products. This line of magificent body products are Hand Made in Italy. Santa Maria di Novella is an emotional purchase and it will bring familiar scents back to you whether you have been to Europe or not.
A bit of history on this lovely line; the pharmacy was started by the Dominican Fathers in the year 1221 shortly after their arrival in Florence. It is one of the oldest in the world. The priests began to cultivate herbs that they were able to use in medications, balms and creams. Four hundred years later, they opened a store after getting permission from Grand Duke de Medici.
The line consists of 41 scents and hundreds of products. Another wonderful perk to using this product is that it is all natural. Most of the recipes are still based on the 14th through 16th century recipes. Production of this brand is controlled and the best and most natural ingredients are used. Our favorites are the soaps and lotions. The packaging on these beautiful items are consistently old world and written in Italian, of course. The milky glass bottles and paper wrapped soaps are delightful and make a beautiful addition to your bathroom. It’s hard to decide if I would love to keep these beauties in rotation or on display. Please come in to sample Santa Maria Di Novella fragrances and body products. They make a great gift for the holidays!
