This seasons fresh new trends and colors, I can not wait to show you what Lola’s Boutique has to offer you. Sorry I’ve been away for sometime, only to come back with numerous ideas and inspiration to hopefully WOW you all! This season we’ve been seeing designers, magazines and fashionistas all over the globe wearing their most favorite trends. From tres chic patterned dresses all the way down to menswear inspired looks, the runways not only showcased gorgeous models displaying designers duds, but as pieces of art that created within and waiting to be worn. In that being said, we look upon the designers of the past, present and future to mimic and develop our own personal style. Spring is just around the corner, some days closer then others. At LBNY, I can surely guarantee that whatever you may choose, will enhance your persona and make you fierce!

This months looks were inspired by designer looks such as Dolce & Gobbana’s channeling of Sophia Lauren, displaying fabulous abs of steel and beautiful silhouettes. And what is Spring with out the embracing of COLOR, in which the models looked like a Crayola box. Designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Jill Sander, and Lanvin, just to name a few, hit this trend right on point and is spreading like wild fire.

WOW!!! I’m so excited for next week’s Fashion Night Out 2010 event at Lola’s!! I must say that I have limited time to prepare everything for next Friday Sept. 10th. I’m hoping it can all be done……Universe please HELP ME ;0)

In the mean time let me tell you what’s in store for you fashionistas. The store will be open from 11am till 11pm. Nina Ferrer from HGTV Design Star will be hosting the second annual Vogue’s Fashion Night Out event at Lola’s in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. You can meet Nina between the hours of 7pm-9pm. Easter Lambs

Seems like my creative juices started to flower again. My brain cells are budding like cherry blossoms and all I want to do is CREATE & DECORATE!!! Last week, I was meaning to write on the blog and post pictures of my latest window installment. I wish I had more time to do everything I envision. If I could, my windows, online and brick and mortar store would be out of this world and at times very trippy. My imagination runs like the energizer bunny and I need to draw and write most of my ideas. Otherwise, I forget it as quickly as it came to me. I can start a window with one of my ideas and then it just does not work. Before you know it, I have spent 5 hours putting together a window just to spend another 2 hours to take it down. Its stinks to be a neurotic……

I also want to apologize to y’all that my online store is not as updated as it should be. I will be purchasing lighting equipment and making more time to shoot the clothes. I promise you and me.

Definitely Not in Kansas

Although it seemed like it on Saturday! Torrential rain and 50-70 MPH winds left their mark in Brooklyn. There were a couple of downed trees a few blocks away from Lola’s and we’re so glad no one was hurt.

Spring is almost here and we got 3 styles of our much anticipated Melissa/Vivienne Westwood Shoes! By mid-week, the weather should cooperate and you all can step out in these 100% vegan, bubblegum smelling rubber shoes.

A Time For Thanks

This Christmas season has left me completely exhausted. It was slow to start, and at times it scared me, I kept wondering when the crowds were coming to shop. I had ordered too many gift items and the most beautiful Christmas ornaments. I spent Thanksgiving at the store pricing so much merchandise and re-arranging the store so it would be ready for “Black Friday”. Black Friday on third Avenue turned out to be a bomb. It left me anxious and full of worry as to what kind of Holiday I was to expect.

It picked up very slowly, but it picked up. Our regular customers and a ton of new faces came strolling through the door to my most coveted Christmas wonderland. I wish I had pictures, but once again I lost the charger to my camera and there are no pictures of our “Saints and Angels” themed window. I lose things when I become extremely tired, which seems to be all the time lately. It feels like I just gave birth again, this time to a store.

I re-arranged the store once again to accomodate our “super sale” merchandise. Clothing is marked 30%-50% off. Christmas items are 50% off. There are some great pieces on sale, be sure to stop in and check it out.

I want to thank my Lolette’s for working so hard, Jai, Suzan and Kim. I could not do this with out your help. My beautiful family that has sacrificed so much to help me in everything. I’m sorry our Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve 2009 will be remembered as Holidays spent at Lola’s. My sweet Valentina, thank you for helping mommy after school and being a great promoter of the store. Soon we will be on a nice retreat together. Gerard my love, thank you for being there every single day. To all my customers new and old, thank you so much for shopping at Lola’s and appreciating all the merchandise that was ordered for you. There would be no Lola’s with out you. Last but not least, Thank you GOD and the mighty Universe for giving me the strength everyday to continue on this retail journey.

I don’t know about you, but since my favorite thing in the world to do is to shop, I love this time of year. I think that Lola’s is definitely the best place to buy all your friends and loved ones their Holiday gifts. The lovely Lolettes will also make your wish list and direct all your friends and loved ones to it when they come in for your holiday gifts!

New Moon

Team On The Fence.. that is where I sit after seeing the newest installment of the Twilight Saga, New Moon. I have been an avid fan of Vampires since I was a little girl. There is something so ultra-sexy and mysterious about them, but I will appreciate a buff werewolf any day of the week…

For weeks there was anticipation and googling every New Moon trailer and piece of information that I could get my hands on. The movie was well worth the advanced ticket purchase two months ago and the waiting in line at the midnight show on Thursday. I loved it so much I went again on Saturday to see it again in the city with some other Twi-hards! I sat, both times, staring at the screen in awe and was completely satisfied at the caliber of the performances of all the actors. None of these movies are Oscar worthy, let’s be honest, but they are definitely good entertainment!

Twilight, the first of the Saga, pales (no pun intended) in comparison to the beauty of New Moon. The movie was amazing and the characters are brought to life again in a more stunning way. Edward, Bella and Jacob characters made you feel their pain. I appreciated the fashion, which at times on Alice made her look too “old,” but for the most part, the gratuitous naked werewolf and vampire was not bothersome. I left satisfied and definitely wanting more. I am definitely anticipating Eclipse and wondering what David Slade’s vision will be and hope it holds up to Chris Weitz direction.

I already have a date for Eclipse on June 30, 2010 at midnight. I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
